Finally Christmas Day

So, we made it to Grandma's after a really long, emotional drive... as when we got to Los Banos, I called to let Grandma and Grandpa know where we were at, only to learn that one of Grandma's best friends, Mary Tillman, had passed away the evening prior. They had been friends and neighbors for close to 50 years...

Christmas Eve was a solemn day, as we all took turns going over to give our condolensces to her family... but I thank God that He heard and answered our prayers- as there was both a joy unspeakable and a peace surrounding all of Mary's boys that day, as they celebrated what mom would have said. :o)

The next day was Christmas... and here is Nick in his new Christmas sweater from our recent Aeropostale shopping spree:

And here's Aunt Brenda (my dad's little sister), whom quite a few people insist I look identical to (and Abigail absolutely adores!!)...
And her youngest, Drake... getting all grown up... We had a fun conversation about Einstein's theory of relativity where he insisted that the faster he drives, the more time is added to his life. We half-jokingly tried to help him see that it really is just a theory! :o) He took it in stride! :o)
And, of course, we couldn't open any of the presents until everyone had their showers and were dressed (so we'd smell good for the pictures- LOL!)... The kids did so well keeping their distance and not bugging everyone to open everything. Kenny kept commenting what great kids we have to wait so patiently. :o) ...and as soon as everyone was ready, it wasn't long before...
The den was a mess! (Ethan is standing there, trying on my new shirt for me...)
Here's my Grandpa (above), and Abigail with Grandma (below):
And this would be "dog-ee" aka Canyon. Abigail and Ethan's playmate for the better part of 4-5 days:
